How retailers can avoid violence in the workplace

Two people were killed in their workplaces each day on average last year in the U.S., and the rate rose much higher outside the country, said threat assessment and workplace violence expert Larry Barton in his keynote at the NRF Loss Prevention Conference and Expo. He advised retailers to form threat assessment teams and to look for warning signs of violence including negative changes in behavior, health-related changes such as dramatic weight loss and mentions or displays of a weapon.
