New devices offer alternatives to hearing aids

Personal sound amplifying products, or PSAPs, are increasingly a lower-tech and lower-priced option for aging consumers who are beginning to have hearing difficulties but, either for vanity or financial reasons, are not yet ready for a hearing aid. The options available range from $20 devices up to much more sophisticated models selling for about $500.
