Researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Rice University have come up with a way to improve the performance monolayers of the semiconductor molybdenum disulphide by intentionally adding imperfections. This advance could boost the performance of field-effect transistors, flexible optoelectronics, integrated logic circuits, and photodetectors, the researchers say.
