Sprint gives first hint of WiMAX shutdown in new sub contracts

Sprint Nextel pointed toward terminating its WiMAX service in a terms-of-service agreement with new subscribers by inserting a clause on May 22 that details the steps the carrier will take if it discontinues the 4G service during the length of the contract. Among the options Sprint offered was a free Long-Term Evolution device. The carrier has long intended to shutter its WiMAX network while it builds an LTE infrastructure but has not given a time frame.
