Video analytics and the fight to cut shrink

Loss prevention teams at Brookstone and American Apparel have achieved higher conversions and lower shrink with video analytics systems that help the stores optimize staffing levels and merchandise based on how long customers dwell in certain parts of the store, executives said during a panel at NRF's Loss Prevention Conference. "You have to reach across the aisle to other department heads, to store operations, merchandising and marketing folks to show the value from other perspectives," said Michael Burch, loss prevention director at Tilly's Clothing & Shoes.
