MoCA OKs 2.0 spec that could exceed 1G per second

The ability of in-home networks to carry HD video received a boost Tuesday when the Multimedia over Coax Alliance agreed on its MoCA 2.0 standard that can support speeds of up to 1-gigabit-per-second over coax cables, the group said. MoCA competes with other technologies such as the ITU g.hn standard, Wi-Fi and powerline. Although Wi-Fi has a lead in the area, industry observers say it lacks MoCA's ability to securely handle HD video.
