Siemens plans to spend $214 million in wind-energy R&D

Siemens is planning to spend $214 million to bolster its ability to meet rising demand for offshore wind turbines, particularly in Europe. Siemens will establish research centers in two cities in Denmark and improve the capacity of its factories in that country. Danish researchers will focus on improving Siemens' new direct-drive technology and lightweight wind-turbine blades.
