Iridium picks SpaceX to launch satellites in largest contract of its kind

In the largest single commercial launch deal ever signed, satellite communication provider Iridium Communications has selected Space Exploration Technologies Corp., or SpaceX, to launch its next-generation satellites into space. Under the contract, valued at $492 million, SpaceX will provide launch services to carry the satellites into a low-earth orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California between 2015 and 2017.
