Malaysian hypermarkets take steps to help struggling consumers

Some hypermarkets in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, are striving to help ease the burden on struggling shoppers by offering discounts on certain products. Low Ngai Yuen, marketing and communications director at Carrefour, said the retailer is "subsidising" thousands of items. "We benchmark prices of goods against those offered at the wet markets and our competitors every day. We are consistently on our toes," she said.
