An article that questioned whether new hotels increase conventions and whether potential convention business is sufficient to justify building new hotels has some officials in San Antonio, Texas, questioning whether the city ought to build a 1,000-room convention center hotel. Supporters of the project say the article does not take into account the rebounding travel market post-Sept. 11, 2001, or San Antonio's already strong convention industry.
