IPhone 4 pre-orders were suspended after record sales

Apple apologized Wednesday after the online iPhone 4 ordering system collapsed under the stress of taking 600,000 pre-orders for the launch date next Thursday, a record one-day sale for the company and 10 times the number of orders it received last year for the iPhone 3GS. AT&T said it had temporarily suspended taking any new orders.
