Texas bill on Senate approval for university regents is vetoed

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has vetoed a measure under which Senate approval would be needed before appointees to state university governing boards are able to vote on personnel and other issues. The bill was prompted by concerns that the University of Texas System Board of Regents was micromanaging the Austin campus.
