DaTscan allows for early Parkinson's diagnosis, treatment

A study presented at the SNMMI Annual Meeting found that the SPECT imaging agent DaTscan performs comparably with clinical evaluation at one year, allowing for early diagnosis and better management of Parkinson's disease. The researchers, who assessed information from two clinical studies, said the method improved patient management for those with positive scans and increased physician confidence in diagnosing the disease and prescribing medication, a researcher said.
