GE recruits engineers to build "industrial Internet"

Software engineers are in high demand at General Electric, which is in the process of building an "industrial Internet." The objective is a network that culls data from commercial machines that in turn can be analyzed to help users achieve greater efficiencies. In aircraft alone, says GE chief Jeff Immelt, a 1% improvement would produce $2 billion in yearly savings for GE customers.
