HUD closings will include offices in high-foreclosure areas

In an effort to cut costs, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is closing 16 field offices. Four of those selected, however, represent eight cities with some of the nation's highest foreclosure rates. The cuts are part of a White House executive order mandating efficiencies in government services, and they also include the consolidation of HUD's multifamily housing programs from all 50 states to 10 offices in big cities.
