HUD study finds housing bias against same-sex couples

A survey by the Department of Housing and Urban Development has found that same-sex couples face discrimination when it comes to rental housing. A bill called the Housing Opportunities Made Equal Act, not yet introduced in this Congress, would make discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status and source of income illegal nationwide. The study, however, found that states with similar laws already in place had higher levels of discrimination than those without such laws.
