Pain prevalence in nursing home residents

The SHELTER (Services and Health for Elderly in Long Term care) study shows European nursing home dwellers have a high prevalence of pain which varies widely from country to country (19% in Israel to 73% in Finland). Many residents claimed their pain was adequately controlled, but when examined more closely using the interRAI instrument for Long Term Care Facilities (interRAI LTCF), they were found to still suffer significant pain.
