Thyroid disease raises risk of ICU admission, complications

A study linked hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism in pregnant women with a higher risk of preeclampsia, ICU admission, preterm birth and other complications, NIH researchers reported in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. Researchers said more study is needed to determine the role of thyroid disease in pregnant women.
