The Nintendo Wii's haptic controllers have helped to spawn a wave of devices and accessories that brings the gaming experience into the real world. The paraphernalia range from the $400 Ultimate Game Chair, which creates vibrations to mimic game action, to specialty controllers for shooter games or Guitar Hero to an entire upcoming system from Philips Consumer Electronics that even comes with flashing lamps to simulate lightning. As the devices become more and more popular, game developers themselves are taking notice.
