49% of new nurses experience some form of verbal abuse

The RN Work Project surveyed 1,407 newly licensed registered nurses and found that 49% of them had been verbally abused by colleagues, but just 5% reported more than five instances of verbal abuse in the past three months. The study in the Journal of Nursing Scholarship found that among the most common forms of verbal abuse reported by new RNs were a lack of acknowledgement and condescension.
