Affluent spenders continue widening the spending gap

The gap in average spending between affluent spenders -- those earning six figures or more -- and the rest of consumers continued to grow in the first quarter of 2013, according to a new study from Martini Media. Affluent consumers were 47% more likely than non-affluent spenders to make a purchase online, and they spent 41% more on those purchases, on average.
