Calif. school is recognized for fitness, nutrition program

Oak Park Unified School District in California has been recognized by the state for improving student nutrition and physical fitness. Oak Park High's efforts include expanding the menu, using produce from an organic garden on campus, and participating in Meatless Monday. "If we want our students to succeed inside and outside the classroom, they need an education that takes the 'whole child' into account," said Tom Torlakson, state superintendent of public instruction.
