Designer's use of precast allows Wash. building to gain distinction

The use of precast concrete for the design of the new Rocket Building is an example of novel structures that "aren't cookie-cutter repeats" of older buildings in the historic Fairhaven district of Bellingham, Wash., writes Dean Kahn. "Diversity is good within these districts," said Jeff McClure, the building's architect. "We didn't want to just copy what was here."
