Opinion: Dairy Freedom Act can help dairy farmers and consumers

The Dairy Market Stabilization Program proposed in the farm bill will limit the amount of milk dairy farmers can sell, significantly increase milk prices and affect nutrition assistance programs, writes Connie Tipton, CEO of IDFA. "The last thing the country needs is increases in the price of staple food products," Tipton writes, adding that with the Dairy Freedom Act, it's a win-win for dairy farmers and consumers. "We can give dairy farmers the insurance safety net they want, without artificially raising the price of milk," writes Tipton.
