Platts is criticized over ethanol-price assessments

During a forum in London, Hungary-based ethanol producer Pannonia Ethanol and other stakeholders criticized Platts' lack of transparency in its ethanol-price assessments. Jorge Montepeque, Platts' director of marketing reporting, said the company has to keep some information from the public because it contains confidential or market-sensitive data. EU authorities last month searched the offices of Platts, Royal Dutch Shell and Statoil as part of a price-fixing investigation, and Platts said it is cooperating in the probe.
