FDA says Boston Scientific initiates recall of stent for leg arteries

The FDA said Boston Scientific has voluntarily pulled from the market its Innova self-expanding stent, which is designed to treat lesions in leg arteries, after receiving reports of deployment problems that might lead to vessel wall injury and emergency surgery, among other adverse events. Boston Scientific, which markets the device outside the U.S., already has informed consumers about the stent problem.
