30% of world's high-performance computing power devoted to Big Data

Big Data analysis is consuming a larger proportion of the world's high-performance computing power, with more than two-thirds of HPC facilities reporting that they use their machines to churn through volumes of information looking for actionable intelligence. According to IDC's 2013 Worldwide Study of HPC End-User Sites, about 30% of the available computing cycles are now committed to data analysis, and 76.9% of HPCs rely on co-processors and accelerators to help address the growing demand.
