Compliance costs vary by company size, industry sector

Smaller companies have proportionally higher compliance costs than larger ones -- $102 per employee for small companies, compared with $23 per employee at companies with 50,000 or more employees, according to a survey by LRN Corp. Companies in highly regulated sectors, such as health care or financial services, pay more as well.
