Higher risk of lung transplant death seen with diabetes

Diabetes patients were about five times as likely to die following lung transplants compared with those who did not have the disease, according to an Australian study presented at The Endocrine Society meeting. Diabetes screening and management may help boost lung transplant outcomes, the lead researcher noted.
