Ill winds from China, U.S. drive down Asian shares

A cash crunch and poorer manufacturing numbers in China combined with Wednesday's unwelcome remarks from the U.S. Federal Reserve sent Asian markets tumbling Thursday. The Nikkei fell 1.74% to 13,014.58, the Hang Seng plunged 2.88% to 20,382.87, the Kospi slid 2.00% to 1,850.49 and the S&P/ASX dropped 2.12% to 4,758.40.
