Jessica Rich is named head of FTC's Consumer Protection bureau

Jessica Rich has been named to head the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection, where she is expected to emphasize privacy rights. Rich is said to have influenced the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Center for Democracy & Technology's Gautam Hans says she has a strong "understanding of the mobile app landscape and the privacy issues facing consumers."
