Movement of MERS through Saudi hospitals offers clues to virus

Researchers traced the spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus through hospitals in Saudi Arabia and found a median time from infection to illness of 5.2 days. The virus was transmitted in the intensive care and dialysis units and during hospital transfers, according to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. An analysis of health records found evidence of ongoing propagation, according to Johns Hopkins epidemiologist Dr. Trish Perl.
