Researchers develop prosthetic limb that adapts to the functional leg

Scientists at the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi have received a provisional patent for a prosthetic leg that adapts walking speed and minimizes drag by using a transmitter to mimic the gait of the good leg. The device converts knee angle and walking speed into an algorithm and transmits it wirelessly from a heel switch in the shoe of the natural limb so that the prosthetic leg can move in an identical manner.
