SEC enforcement policy change could influence other agencies

A Securities and Exchange Commission decision to pursue admissions of wrongdoing in some enforcement cases could encourage other regulatory agencies to do the same. "In the financial services arena, the SEC is often the pacesetter for other regulators," said former SEC enforcement attorney Stephen Crimmins. "If the public sees the SEC succeeding with this new initiative, it's likely that other agencies will feel pressure to follow suit."
