Combo blood pressure drug approved

The FDA approved the Novartis blood pressure drug Exforge, a combination drug using Diovan and Pfizer's Norvasc, both currently big sellers for the companies. Approval of the new drug is seen as an opportunity for Pfizer to extend sales of Norvasc, which loses patent protection this year, as well as a boost for Novartis.
