Financing deal could let work begin on D.C. convention hotel by fall

Under a deal with city officials in Washington, developers could begin construction on a new 1,167-room Marriott convention hotel as soon as the fall. The deal, which still requires the approval of the D.C. Council, would involve the city and the Washington Convention Center Authority spending $80 million on the hotel and an adjoining garage, while Quadrangle Development and Capstone Development would partner with ING to secure private funding for the rest of the project's costs.
