Column: Consumers are the worst "greenwashers" of all

Consumers say they hate companies that inflate their environmental achievements -- but the truth is that most people are just as bad as the corporations they condemn, writes Joel Makower. We say we want a cleaner planet, but fail to change our spending habits accordingly, Makower notes. "For more than two decades, they've said one thing and done another," he adds. "If consumers were a corporation, we'd be boycotting them."
