Russia is expected to pass gay adoption ban

Foreign same-sex couples and single people from countries that allow same-sex marriages would not be allowed to adopt Russian children under legislation approved by the lower house of parliament this week. The measure is expected to pass another reading today. "In a country with a multitude of problems beginning with health care and ending with economy, the parliament passes one homophobic law after another as if nothing worries them more than gays and lesbians," said Lyudmila Alexeyeva, head of Moscow Helsinki Group.
