Talks with Taliban could help U.S. withdrawal, Hagel says

The departure of U.S. troops from Afghanistan could be eased with peace talks between the U.S. and the Taliban, says Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. Peace talks "are worth the risk," Hagel said. The White House announcement that the U.S. will start such conversations with the Taliban has drawn sharp criticism from Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
