Marriage ban approved by Pa. Senate

The Pennsylvania Senate gave the go-ahead on Wednesday to a state marriage amendment that would limit marriage to opposite-sex couples, but would still allow for domestic partnerships for same-sex and unmarried, straight couples. The Senate version now must be reconciled with the House bill, which does not recognize domestic partnerships. If the two bodies don't agree on language by June 30, the amendment cannot go to voters in 2007.
