Practice alert offers protocols to avert alarm fatigue in ICUs

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses issued a practice alert that focuses on ways to boost the effective use of clinical alarms as well to prevent false and non-actionable alarms. Customizing alarm parameters and levels for electrocardiography monitors, and regular changing of ECG electrodes, were among the recommendations.
