Helicopter-transported patients have higher survival rates

An analysis of data involving 13,000 patients transported to more than 300 European hospitals found that helicopters yielded higher survival rates compared with ground ambulances. Survival was higher despite helicopter transportation being associated with more complications and longer hospital stays. The findings appear in the journal Critical Care.
