Inspection, test data of Bay Bridge bolts released by Caltrans

Hundreds of pages of test and inspection data on the steel bolts used on the $6.4 billion San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge in California have been released by Caltrans. They reveal that most of the high-strength steel bolts "passed all the requisite tests" but some of them "would not have passed the new, lower hardness threshold" established in April. Meanwhile, installation of an "external saddle and cable system" that will handle the load where the bolts broke continues.
