NAB: FCC hasn't shown science behind variable band plan

Ruth Milkman, chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Wireless Bureau, continues to push for a variable band repacking plan, claiming it is "misleading" to say there is a consensus alternative. However, broadcasters want the FCC to address "whether engineering even allows for meaningful variability," according to the NAB's Rick Kaplan. "Where is the public notice that asks whether and how the inherent interference can be avoided? We haven't seen it and fear that the drive for variability has trumped the science and engineering essential to avoid some of the painful interference mistakes of the past."
