NP poll: Oversight requirements limit access to care

More than 7 in 10 nurse practitioners say requiring physician supervision limits access to care, creates provider-patient confusion and raises health care costs, according to a survey of 12,000 NPs. The results were presented at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners National Conference in Las Vegas. More than 80% of NPs said mandatory physician oversight reduces their autonomy and restrains direct reimbursement.
