Spending is expected to continue increasing for health-related products and medications for pets and food animals. Companies including Pfizer's animal health spinoff Zoetis, Merck & Co. and Sanofi report revenue in the billions of dollars from animal-related products alone. "People now want to take care of their pets like a family member, so they are going to the vet to get dental care, regular checkups, eye care," said Richard DeLuca Jr., president of Merck Animal Health.
