Japan to undertake iPS cell trials in coming years

Japan reportedly is planning within five years to conduct clinical trials on induced pluripotent stem cells aimed at producing retinal pigment epithelial cells to cure age-related macular degeneration and hematopoietic stem cells to treat blood conditions, among other treatments. The plan also calls for the creation of an iPS cell bank within two years.
