ANA issues safe patient handling and mobility standards

To instill a stronger culture of safety in health care work settings, the American Nurses Association released its national safe patient handling and mobility standards. The standards "provide a framework for establishing a comprehensive program to eliminate the manual handling of patients, tasks that commonly lead to injury for health care workers and patients," the group said.
