Imaging technique helps determine type of foot infection

A dual-isotope SPECT/CT imaging method can help clinicians determine, using a single scan, whether a foot condition is osteomyelitis or Charcot joint, researchers reported at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging's annual meeting. The process eliminates the need for additional bone-marrow scan, thus reducing imaging time and radiation exposure.
