Researchers laud broad success of VA's MOVE program

The Department of Veterans Affairs' Managing Overweight and/or Obesity for Veterans Everywhere, or MOVE, program has shown that lifestyle changes to promote better health can be achieved on a large scale, researchers said at the American Diabetes Association 73rd Scientific Sessions. An analysis of more than 135,000 participants showed their BMI decreased one point after taking part in the program, and those considered the most active achieved 2.7% weight loss after three years. More than 400,000 people have participated in the MOVE program at 130 centers nationwide since its implementation in 2005.
